Food intake:
Fresh Orange Juice only (2 litres max)
Lots of organic herbal tea
Laxative tea before bed
General feeling:
The DREADED day - Orange Juice only with a peppering of fruit teas throughout the day...crikey!
My morning started off fine, I woke up feeling a lot less hungry than the night before and didn't really crave anything. Usually a peanut butter Warburton's Thin was replaced by thin air....best enjoy the good mood while it lasts! Plus my weight had dropped by 2lb and I did feel genuinely lighter as I reluctantly left the house with my flask of orange gloop.
I was very strict and only took a litre of fresh OJ to work (Innocent juice to be precise) so that I wouldn't feel the need to wolf my evening portion during the day.
The thought of manually juicing enough oranges to make up 2L couldn't have appealed to me less so to avoid ruining my newly painted nails (and flexing the muscles I really don't have) I made sure I purchased the purest and freshest orange juice I could find. Innocent is a brand that doesn't dilute their juices in anyway, so for me this was the perfect substitute.
Clipper and Pukka fruit and herbal have been working wonders for my mood, too. Even just tearing the tea bag open fills my nose with the most incredible smells - I must admit my senses felt extremely heightened come day three. Just the waft of strawberry and rhubarb tea conjured up fantasies of diving nose first into a fruit crumble with lashings of custard. CRY FACE.
With the heightened smell came heightened cravings... I found myself thinking about food non-stop. Buffering the cravings with fruit tea didn't exactly help when I had to pass the biscuit tin to make a cuppa!!
Also my typing went rapidly downhill. The amount of emails I had to rewrite at work due to basic errors in spelling and grammar was testament to the fact my concentration and general 'zeal' was completely off key.
Throughout the day I had a strange sensation that my head was floating off my shoulders - but saying this I genuinely couldn't summarise my overall mood. I felt hungry, but wasn't. I felt shattered, but had a real buzz of energy...
My journey home from work was one of sheer relief, it was so hard to concentrate during the day plus I sent a snappy email to my boss...not a wise move when i had another week to go!
Keeping myself busy around the house for an hour before heading over to my friends (who is actually going to start the cleanse in a week's time) provided some lovely light relief from what would have been a very tough evening. My other half ended up having the family over and cooked burritos...I HAD to get out of the house!
At 9.30 pm I brewed my first laxative tea. I went for Smooth Moves as it's organic and had good reviews on taste. Well, what a great surprise - best tasting tea I've ever tried I have to say. Perhaps it's getting to that time of year where I feel slightly festive anyway...but the spiced apple and berry flavours really soothed my mood and helped prepare me for a good night's sleep.
And saying this I must have been out by 10.45 pm and slept the whole night through, such an improvement on the night before.
Overall mood: 4/10 (afternoon) | 8/10 (evening)
