Food intake:
5 x Lemonade
General feeling:
So I know it's not exactly the most delightful of conversation topics but having read up on quite a few of the negative side effects of the master cleanse I was slightly apprehensive to find out how my digestive system would cope without solid food for over a week.
Five days in without movement and I was worried, especially after my SWF fail the day before which I was counting on, massively. This is the natural irrigation part of the cleanse which removes all the nasties that have built up in the bowel for since, well in my case 27 years! The amount of boozing, fast food, takeaways and just general rubbish I've loaded myself with throughout the years finally had to go, and luckily my plan of giving nature a little helping hand last night worked wonders.
I woke up this morning at 5 am and took myself to the bathroom, false alarm. I was so annoyed as I knew my only option was to tackle the dreaded SWF in an hours time...but I really did feel that if I gave it a few more hours I'd see results.
Luckily, at 7 am my prayers were answered (sounds so strange to be relieved about something that occurs - usually - so naturally) and I felt the horrible bloated feeling I'd been carrying around for the past couple of months instantly disappear. This is the first time I can honestly say I've really felt good from the inside out.
I have read extensively on the SWF, some people swear by it, others insist that you should use laxatives only and steer clear as it only delays the weight loss process by retaining excess water. Now that I've tried both methods I can honestly say that I'll be sticking to the laxatives. I feel like I've let myself down slightly by not giving the SWF at least one more go, but I've never felt more naturally uncomfortable and ill in my whole entire life doing it. If I'm achieving the same results from a much less invasive method then frankly, I'm sold.
The afternoon was as easy as the day before, my hunger levels were at an all time low and the lemonade alternated with herbal tea was keeping me focussed and alert. I was slightly concerned about how my Friday night would pan out not revolved around food or alcohol (!) but as Rob is going dry for November we didn't do anything too strenous...and went to the cinema (again). Seems a dark room, good movie and no temptation is proving a winning combination for master cleanse entertainment!
A laxative tea before bed and lights out by 11.30 pm... talk about wild Friday!
Overall mood: 10/10 (morning) | 8/10 (afternoon)
